Haiti Outreach Ministry Update – November 1, 2019

HAITI GOES FROM A GAS SHORTAGE TO A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN SIX WEEKS

Mission Trip Cancelled

The Haiti Ministry had planned their next mission trip for November 29 – December 9, 2019. Due to circumstances beyond our control that trip has been rescheduled until Feb. 14-24, 2020. This is the second trip we had to reschedule this year. But it worked out and we got every goal met. We believe that this is God’s mission and we are His Hands and His Feet. He will lead us where we are to go.

Some of you might have heard recently that the political difficulties in Haiti have escalated in the last weeks from a gas shortage into a Humanitarian Crisis. Cabrini has served the poor in Haiti for 31 years and we have weathered many of these situations. But the Lord always provided a way for us to help the poor in good and bad times.

WATER FILTER SYSTEMS CONTINUE TO SAVE LIVES

The Haiti Outreach water project has helped our mothers with the water shortage that most of Haiti is experiencing. Our 30 families have operational water purification systems in their homes. We have been working on this water project for the past two years. Now it will continue to save lives. We are making a difference.

FOOD PRICES SORE AS THE MARKETS ARE EMPTY

The people are beginning to feel the pinch of the high cost of food and food shortages. Farmers can’t bring food to the market to sell, there is no gas to transport it. A lot of the roads have been blocked in many areas by the protesters.

Through prayer, The Holy Spirit has inspired the Cabrini Haiti Mission team to reach out once again. We are developing a feeding program. This program will cost about $1200 monthly depending on the price and availability of the food. I can’t share the details of the program now for safety reasons. But know that our families, over 200 people, will benefit from this sharing of our assets with them.

This is another opportunity to show the Haitian community that we are in Haiti to stay, and committed to their well-being. The construction of the Cabrini Community Center is on hold for a few months but our planning continues for the February, 2020 trip. We are in Haiti for the long haul, God willing, as our history proves. The LORD WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE.

Thank you all for the support of prayers, funding and faithfulness that our supporters in the U.S. continues to give HAITI. Please find us on FaceBook and the internet: haitianmission.com and facebook.com/haitioutreachministry

There is a special prayer for Haiti on our home page: haitianmission.com. It details Haiti’s need for the Holy Spirit’s help. Please check it out, print it and keep in on your refrigerator.

Ways to pay it forward!

We will also be updating the Haitian Information display in the Narthex at St. Frances Cabrini. I hope to have it changed by Thanksgiving. Please remember the message of this year’s video appeal: “Dream Big, Invest In People and Pay it Forward.” You can use this link to share the video with friends on FaceBook, email or other social media outlets:  https://youtu.be/Ep_n4znXrnA
